The use of computers and information technology could help China and its people increase its standard of living. Technology allows for the creation of better paying jobs in the information technology field. This strategy is not limited to people that have a formal education in computer and information technology. The internet is a channel that human resource departments can use to hire employees in alternate work arrangements such as telecommuting. Telecommuting can be defined as the act of working from home rather than traveling back and forth to a workplace (Mass). Due to the terrain limitation of China which is about the same size as the United States, but with a population 22 times larger there is simply no more room to create jobs using traditional business models that require physical space. The Chinese econo my has to emphasize growth by expanding into the virtual economy.
